This is one of those book that a person has to read to believe in it. but then let me try to convince you with this simple test:
1)vicarious vs voracious
2)optician vs oculist
3)penury vs penurious

just answer yourselves the difference, as for someone with a great sense of language this will be nothing but for me a person who more often than not felt word stuck right on his tongue, and had to use a simpler word with not the same meaning this was an eye opener on how to increase my vocabulary and that too rapidly.

I read this book in high school in the '60's and very soon, I was impressing the teachers with a newfound vocabulary. If you need to impress someone with words they don't know get this vocabulary book and study. It's the easiest way to learn new words and be able to remember them.
